Class D Exploratory distance 7-8 miles round trip, elevation 4,000 feet.

This hike is listed as a walk up (class 2) in reference books. come and enjoy the view from the top of the ninth highest peak in Idaho (one of the 12'ers!). We will drive up Friday after work, hike in from the trail head early Saturday. Sunday will be a play day before we head back to Boise for late afternoon arrival. The view of Wildhorse Canyon from the highest point in the Pioneer Mountains should be spectacular, as will views of surrounding peaks and lakes. Inclement weather will cancel.

Peak Bagging in the Lemhi Range (9/10/2010)

Join us for a late summer exploration of 11,000+ ft peaks in the Lemhi Range. We will leave Boise after work on Friday, start the long drive to the trail head (5 or 6 hours), and car camp at a primative site on the way. Saturday and Sunday we will hike peaks from our car camp. All summits involve 4,000 to 4,500 ft elevation gain over steep YDS Class 2 - 3 terrain and 10 to 12 miles RT. These are tough hikes with many rewards: stellar views of the Lost River Range to the west and the Beaverhead Mountains to the east. We might even get a glimpse of the Tetons. We will return to Boise late on Sunday. This trip is not appropriate for dogs.

Float the Boise River from Star to Middleton (10/2/2010)

Join us in exploring the Star-to-Middleton section of the Boise river, about 10 miles. This trip is appropriate for small craft such as inflatable kayaks and canoes. You must be able to ferry, eddy turn, and avoid snags/hazards. There is at least one portage and areas where lifting/lining may be required. No dogs, please.

Peak Bagging in the Boulder Mountains (8/27/2010)

Join us in exploring two 11,000+ ft peaks in the Boulder Mountains. We will leave Boise after work on Friday, start the 5 hour drive to the trailhead, and car camp at a primative site en route. Saturday we will complete the drive, hike one peak and car camp. Sunday we will hike the second peak and return to Boise late that night. Both hikes involve over 3,500 ft elevation gain over steep terrain (YDS Class 2 and 3) and 7 to 9 mile RT depending on the route taken. This trip is not appropriate for dogs.

Hike to Sulphur Creek Guest Ranch from Boundary Creek Trailhead off of Highway 21. Approximate distance-7 miles each way; Elevation gained-less than 200 feet.

Guest Ranch provides overnight housing and 3 meals. Cost: $125 per person; children 12 and under $65.

This should be a fairly easy pack with only personal items required-no camping equipment needed. This would be a good hike to invite family members, friends and prospective members.

Reservations are required-$75 deposit deadline is Sunday, July 11.
